8 Days of Kilimanjaro Climbing via Shira Route

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Accommodation for the night will be at a comfortable hotel, where you will receive a pre-climb briefing and equipment check.

After breakfast, you will be driven to Londorossi Gate (2,100m) for registration and to meet your mountain crew. The drive takes approximately 3 hours. From the gate, you will trek through lush rainforest to Shira 1 Camp (3,500m), which will take around 4-5 hours.

On this day, you will trek across the Shira Plateau, one of the most scenic areas of the route. The trek is relatively short, taking around 3-4 hours, allowing for ample time to acclimatize. You will arrive at Shira 2 Camp (3,840m) in the afternoon.

Today's trek will take you to Lava Tower (4,630m) for acclimatization purposes. The trek is a challenging 4-5 hours, ascending 790m before descending to Barranco Camp (3,960m). This day will help your body adjust to the high altitude.

After breakfast, you will tackle the infamous Barranco Wall, a steep climb that requires some scrambling. Once at the top, the trail continues through the alpine desert to Karanga Camp (4,035m), where you will spend the night. The trek will take around 4-5 hours.

From Karanga Camp, you will continue to ascend through the alpine desert, reaching Barafu Camp (4,640m) in the afternoon. The trek takes around 4 hours and will be your final camp before the summit attempt.

At midnight, you will begin your summit attempt to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. The climb is a steep and challenging 6-7 hours, with the sunrise providing a stunning backdrop. After reaching the summit, you will descend to Millennium Camp (3,790m) for a well-deserved rest. The descent takes around 5-6 hours.

On the final day of your expedition, you will trek from Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate (1,630m), a 3-4 hour descent through the rainforest. Upon arrival at the gate, you will receive your summit certificates and be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi.
